Antinori – Tignanello 2022 is an icon of modern wine history and one of the most legendary Super Tuscans. Produced in the heart of Chianti Classico at Tenuta Tignanello, it marked a revolution in 1971 when it became one of the first Tuscan wines to be crafted without white grapes in the blend and aged in barriques. Today, Tignanello stands as one of the most elegant and acclaimed expressions of Tuscan winemaking on the international stage.

The wine comes from the renowned 47-hectare Tignanello vineyard, situated at 350–400 meters above sea level on limestone- and schist-rich soils in the very heart of Chianti Classico. The blend is based on Sangiovese, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This classic combination brings together the aromatic tension and acidity of Sangiovese with the structure, depth, and dark fruit of the Cabernets.

The 2022 vintage was defined by a warm, sunny growing season balanced by cool nights and timely rainfall, producing grapes with intensity, freshness, and perfect ripeness. After hand-harvesting and careful selection, the varieties are fermented and macerated separately before blending and aging for around 14 months in French and Hungarian barriques.

The bouquet of the 2022 vintage is complex and layered, with ripe cherry, blackcurrant, and plum at the core, enriched by violet, herbs, graphite, tobacco, and cedarwood. On the palate, the wine is rich yet refined, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a concentrated fruit core. The texture is velvety and elegant, leading into a long and precise finish marked by dark fruit, spice, and mineral notes.

Tignanello 2022 is already approachable for its balance and intensity, yet it also has the capacity to evolve for 20 years or more. It represents the perfect union of tradition and innovation – a timeless wine and a cornerstone of any collection of Italy’s greatest labels.

Serve at 16–18 °C in large glasses. Excellent with red meats, game, mushroom and truffle dishes, or aged cheeses.
