Mazzei Il Caggio Ipsus 2021 stands as a defining benchmark for modern Tuscan wine and is regarded by many as the crown jewel of Chianti Classico. Produced by the Mazzei family at their historic Castello di Fonterutoli estate, the wine originates from a single six-hectare clos vineyard in Castellina in Chianti. Its clay-schist and limestone soils give Ipsus both depth and extraordinary precision.

Fermented and aged in a combination of large oak casks, tonneaux, and ceramic vessels, the 2021 vintage achieves remarkable purity, structure, and length. Celebrated as one of Tuscany’s greatest vintages of the century, it showcases everything that makes Sangiovese unique – energy, detail, and effortless elegance.

The bouquet reveals black cherry, violet, herbs, and crushed stone. On the palate, Ipsus 2021 is layered, polished, and endlessly persistent. Only about 6,000 bottles were produced, and the wine has already earned 99 points from James Suckling, hailed by critics as a future legend.
