Ornellaia – Ornellaia Bolgheri Bianco 2018 is one of Italy’s rarest and most prestigious white wines, crafted by the renowned Tenuta dell’Ornellaia in Bolgheri. Since its debut vintage in 2013, Ornellaia Bianco has proven that the coastal terroir of Tuscany can produce white wines on par with the greatest in the world.

The wine is based primarily on Sauvignon Blanc from selected parcels of limestone-rich soils in Bolgheri, complemented by small amounts of Viognier and Verdicchio depending on the vintage. The unique combination of sunny days, cooling maritime breezes, and mineral-rich soils results in a wine of remarkable depth, freshness, and complexity.

The 2018 vintage benefited from a long and balanced growing season, where warm periods were tempered by rainfall and cool nights. Grapes were hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel, and then aged for about 12 months in French barriques, a portion of which were new. The result is a wine that unites structure and intensity with elegance and energy.

The bouquet is vibrant and nuanced, offering citrus, green apple, white flowers, and grapefruit, interwoven with hints of sage, herbs, vanilla, and flint. On the palate, it is concentrated and textured, with lively acidity and a mineral backbone that provides precision and length. The finish is long, layered, and refined – a testament to Ornellaia’s uncompromising style.

Ornellaia Bianco 2018 is already captivating, yet it also has the strength to evolve gracefully for 15–20 years or more.
