Il Marroneto – Selezione Iacopo Rosso di Montalcino 2020 is a rare and personal wine from Alessandro Mori, dedicated to his son Iacopo. It is a selection of specially chosen grapes from the estate’s vineyards in Montalcino, expressing why Il Marroneto is considered one of the most authentic voices of the region.

Made entirely from Sangiovese Grosso, this Rosso di Montalcino carries a quality level close to that of the estate’s Brunello. The vineyards are located at 350–400 meters above sea level on the northeastern slopes of Montalcino, where sandy, calcareous, fossil-rich soils provide tension, purity, and mineral precision. Vinification follows Marroneto’s traditional methods: natural fermentation in open wooden vats without temperature control, slow malolactic fermentation, and aging in large old oak casks before bottling and a short period of refinement in bottle.

The 2020 vintage offers both freshness and depth. The bouquet opens with red cherry, currant, and wild strawberry, followed by rose petals, herbs, tobacco, and a hint of citrus. The palate is elegant and vibrant, with firm yet silky tannins and lively acidity that bring energy and length. The finish is clean and persistent, leaving floral and mineral notes in harmony.

Selezione Iacopo 2020 can be enjoyed now for its immediate charm, yet it also has the strength to develop gracefully over the next decade. Positioned between Rosso and Brunello, it is the perfect way to experience Marroneto’s style in a more youthful and approachable expression.
