Antinori – Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino 2020 is a classic Brunello crafted from 100% Sangiovese Grosso at the Antinori family’s historic estate just south of Montalcino. It embodies everything that has made Brunello world-famous: depth, structure, freshness, and long aging potential – combined with Antinori’s precision and uncompromising pursuit of quality.

The Pian delle Vigne estate lies only a few kilometers from Montalcino and covers about 65 hectares of vineyards at 130–200 meters above sea level. The soils, rich in clay and limestone, lend the wines both power and minerality. Grapes for the 2020 vintage were hand-harvested, rigorously selected, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel. The wine was then aged for over two years in large Slavonian oak casks – a traditional approach that preserves the purity and finesse of Sangiovese.

The 2020 vintage is harmonious and intense. Its deep ruby-red color with garnet hues introduces a bouquet of ripe cherries, wild strawberries, and dried flowers, enriched by notes of herbs, tobacco, leather, and spice. On the palate, the wine is rich and concentrated, yet elegant and balanced. Firm but silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a dense, nuanced fruit core lead to a long, mineral, and persistent finish with layers of dark fruit and spice.

Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino 2020 can be enjoyed now after an hour of decanting, but it has the structure to evolve for 20 years or more. With time, tertiary notes of truffle, forest floor, and leather will emerge, adding even greater depth and complexity.

Serve at 16–18 °C in large glasses. Perfect with red meat, lamb, game, mushroom and truffle dishes, or aged cheeses – and equally compelling as a wine for rare and special occasions.
