Vietti Timorasso Derthona 2021 is a distinctive white wine from Piedmont, where the native Timorasso grape is interpreted with precision and elegance. Derthona refers to the Tortona area in Colli Tortonesi, and this wine captures the character of its calcareous hillsides in a style that is both mineral-driven and generous in depth. It is Italian white wine with energy, texture, and remarkable poise.

The grapes are sourced from hillside parcels around Monleale in Colli Tortonesi, where soils rich in limestone and clay provide structure and freshness. South- and southeast-facing exposures allow full ripening while preserving vibrant acidity. Fermentation lasts about four weeks in a combination of ceramic vessels, large oak casks, and stainless steel. No malolactic fermentation is carried out, and the wine rests on its lees, creating texture and depth while maintaining clarity and focus.

The bouquet opens with pear, white peach, and citrus, followed by delicate notes of acacia, chamomile, and hawthorn. With air, hints of honey and flinty, saline tones emerge. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied yet precise and taut, driven by lively acidity and a clear mineral line. Layers of stone fruit and subtle herbs shape the mid-palate, while the finish is long, clean, and focused with a refined saline edge.

Timorasso Derthona 2021 is captivating in its youth, yet it also has outstanding cellaring potential. Over 5–10 years it will gain further complexity, showing nuances of nuts, beeswax, and hydrocarbon, while retaining its linear freshness. Serve at 10–12 °C in large glasses. Perfect with shellfish, grilled fish, risotto with mushrooms, or light meats – but equally compelling on its own as one of Piedmont’s most gastronomic white wines.
