Vietti – Barolo Villero Riserva 2009 is one of the most iconic Barolos from Piedmont, produced only in the finest vintages. The Villero vineyard, located in Castiglione Falletto, is among the region’s most prestigious crus, renowned for delivering wines of great power, depth, and longevity.

Villero Riserva is Vietti’s flagship Barolo, crafted in extremely limited quantities – often only a few thousand bottles per vintage. Grapes come from old Nebbiolo vines rooted in calcareous soils at 300–350 meters above sea level. Vinification follows the estate’s classical methods, with fermentation in stainless steel, followed by extended aging in large Slavonian oak casks and further refinement in bottle before release.

The 2009 vintage is generous and expressive. The bouquet opens with ripe cherry, plum, and dried rose petals, evolving into notes of tobacco, licorice, leather, forest floor, and spice. On the palate, the wine is intense and structured, with firm yet silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and layers of complexity. The finish is long, persistent, and mineral – a classic expression of the Villero cru.

Barolo Villero Riserva 2009 already shows maturity and refinement, yet still has the strength to evolve for 20 years or more. It is an ideal companion to rich meat dishes, game, truffle, or aged cheeses – or savored on its own as a wine for reflection and rare occasions.
